FAQ's

  • Is parking free?

    Yes, you may park in front or we have a parking lot next to the building. Please note that during winter months, snow routes can impact parking in the front of the building. Please refer to the Silverton Snow Route for details and an informative map.



  • Can I store my bags before check-in or check-out?

    Please contact us directly for storage options. If we are able to accommodate we would love to help!

  • Can I check in early or stay late?

    Check-in Time is 3:00 p.m.

    Check-out is 11:00 a.m.



    Early check-in or late check-out is not a guarantee and is subject to availability. Please check with our local Property Manager, Nick, at (970) 765-5428, for approval.



    Late checkout is subject to a $25.00 per hour fee.  

  • Are you family friendly?

    Yes! We know that traveling as a family can be stressful so we provide travel cribs in the following rooms: Bordello Balcony Suite, Cottage Mountain Suite, and Victorian Balcony Suite. Staying in another room? Please let our staff know ahead of time so we can place a crib in your room.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    To receive a full refund, guests must cancel within 48 hours of initial booking. For direct bookings only, all reservations may be cancelled up to 7 days prior to check-in date for a 50% refund or for a 100% credit to use within one year of your original reservation.  



    If you booked your reservation through a 3rd party platform such as Expedia, Booking.com, or Airbnb, you must cancel directly with them. We are unable to control or access their reservation system.



    For any direct booking made on our site, cancellations can be performed by speaking with our management team directly at 970-764-5428. We can also be contacted at stay@thebent.com . Please note, cancellations cannot be bound via voicemail, text, or email without received confirmation back from our staff.



    Inclement weather is not a reason to cancel your reservation. However, if both routes into Silverton are closed by the state, you will receive a refund.



  • What happens if I don’t arrive for my confirmed reservation?

    You will be charged for the full amount of your stay in accordance to our policy.



  • Do you provide complimentary items if I forgot to pack something?

    Each room is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, coffee, tea, and hairdryers. 

  • Is smoking allowed?

    No, the Bent Elbow is a smoke-free hotel. This includes cigarettes, marijuana, vaping, and anything else. Smoking of any kind in any of these areas will result in a $500 fee.

  • Are pets allowed?

    No, the Bent Elbow is a pet-free Hotel.

  • Can I leave early?

    Yes, although you will be charged for the full reservation stay.

  • How far is the airport?

    Durango (DRO) airport is 62 miles, Montrose (MTJ) airport is 61 miles, Denver (DIA) is 380 miles, and Albuquerque (ABQ) is 265 miles.

  • How far is Silverton Mountain?

    Approximately 6 miles.

  • How far is the Train drop off?

    Approximately 1 block.



  • Can I ride my ATV, UTV, or 4-wheeler to/from Hotel?

    No. Recent Silverton laws state that you must trailer it on our street. Please check with the Silverton Chamber of Commerce for the most up-to-date rules. Currently, you can park your trailer with your ATV on it at our property.

  • Am I required to have an OHV permit?

    Yes, this can be purchased online with the Department of Wildlife, locally at Silverton Grocery, San Juan Services, or Red Mountain Lodges.



  • When does the backcountry open and close?

    The backcountry is always open but depending on weather some passes may be closed.

  • Do you have trailer parking?

    Yes, we do have parking for trailers. In winter months (November- April) we advise you to park in the parking lot.

  • Are restaurants within walking distance?

    From November through April there is limited restaurant availability, but all are within walking distance.  

  • Is there shopping close by?

    Yes! We are in the middle of the business district. Most everything in Silverton is within walking distance. Many shops close for the winter months (November- April). 

  • Is there a nearby grocery store?

    Yes! Silverton Grocery is a small grocery store that carries most everything. It is approximately 4 city blocks from the Hotel.



  • Where can I buy Train Tickets?

    Tickets can be purchased online at the Durango and Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad website.

  • Can I ride the train from Silverton and back?

    Unfortunately, you cannot take a roundtrip from Silverton.  The train originates in Durango.  Please call Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train for more information (970) 247-2733.



  • What do I do if I need to cancel my reservation?

    If you booked through our website, please contact us directly to cancel.  If you booked third party (i.e., Expedia, Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.) please contact them directly as we cannot cancel your reservation on our end. 



  • Is smoking Marijuana allowed?

    Marijuana is legal in the state of Colorado, but we ask that you do not smoke marijuana in your room, on your balcony, or in any common areas. Smoking of any kind in any of these areas will result in a $500 fee.

  • Is the hotel smoke-free?

    No, the Bent Elbow is a smoke-free hotel. This includes cigarettes, marijuana, vaping, and anything else. Smoking of any kind in any of these areas will result in a $500 fee. All guest rooms, balconies, and common areas are non-smoking. 

  • Are you handicap accessible?

    Unfortunately, since the building was constructed in 1907, it is not handicap accessible. The guest accommodations require patrons to go up a flight of stairs to the 2nd floor.
