Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I leave early? Yes, although you will be charged for full reservation stay.
  • How long do you retain credit card information? We reserve the right to hold your credit card information up to 48 hours after your departure allowing us time to inspect the room you occupied for any damages.
  • What happens if I don’t arrive for my confirmed reservation? You will be charged for the full amount of your stay.
  • Can I store my bags before Check-in or Check-out? Please contact us directly for storage options.
  • Can I check in early or stay late? This is not a guarantee and is subject to availability. Please check with the front desk. Late check out is subject to a $25.00 per hour fee.  Check in is 4:00 p.m. and Check out is 10:00 a.m.
  • Do you provide complimentary items if I forgot to pack something? Yes, each room is provided with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bar soap, lotion, bottled water, coffee, tea, hair dryers, and irons. Some incidentals are available at front desk during the summer months such as tooth paste, tooth brush, and shavers.
  • Is smoking allowed? No, the Bent Elbow is a smoke-free Hotel.
  • Are pets allowed? No, the Bent Elbow is a pet-free Hotel.
  • Where can I buy Gift Certificates? Please email stay@thebent.com.
  • How far is the airport? Durango (DRO) airport is 62 miles, Montrose (MTJ) airport is 61 miles, Denver (DIA) is 380 miles, and Albuquerque (ABQ) is 265 miles.
  • How far is Silverton Mountain? Approximately 6 miles.
  • How far is the Train drop off? Approximately 1 block.
  • Can I ride my ATV, UTV, or 4-wheeler from Hotel? No. Silverton recently changed the law and you must trailer it on our street. Check with the Silverton Chamber up-to-date rules. You can park your trailer with your ATV on it at our property.
  • Am I required to have an OHV permit? Yes, this can be purchased on-line with department of wildlife, locally at Silverton Grocery, San Juan Services, or Red Mountain Lodges.
  • When does the backcountry open and close? The backcountry is always open but depending on weather some passes may be closed.
  • Is parking free? Yes, you may park in front or we have a parking lot next to the building.
  • Do you have trailer parking? Yes, we do have parking for trailers. In winter months (November- April) we advise you to park in the parking lot.
  • Are restaurants within walking distance? From November through April there are only a few restaurants that are open.  Please call Silverton Chamber for an updated list at (970) 387-5654.
  • Is there shopping close by? Yes, we are in the middle of the business district. Most everything in Silverton is with-in walking distance. (Many shops close for the winter months (November- October). Please call the Silverton Chamber if you coming in those months for and updated list.  (970) 387-5654
  • Is there a grocery Store? Yes, Silverton Grocery is a small grocery store that carries most everything. It is approximately 4 city blocks from the Hotel and is at the entrance of Silverton.

  • Can I ride the train from Silverton and back? No, you can ride the train one way, although train does not originate in Silverton. Please call Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train for more information (970) 247-2733.
  • What do I do if I need to cancel my reservation? If you booked direct please contact us directly (please read cancellation policy for your knowledge).  Emails are not a form of cancellation and are not accepted. If you booked third party i.e., Expedia, bookings.com, hotels.com, or Airbnb please contact them directly as we cannot cancel your reservation on our end. 
  • What is our cancellation policy? To receive a full refund, guests must cancel within 48 hours of initial booking. For direct bookings only, all reservations may be cancelled up to 7 days prior to check-in date for a 50% refund or for a 100% credit to use within one year of your original reservation.
  • Is smoking Marijuana allowed? Marijuana is legal in the state of Colorado, but we ask that you do not smoke marijuana in your room, on your balcony, or in any common areas. Smoking in any of these areas will result in a $500 fee.
  • Is the hotel smoke-free? All guest rooms, balconies, and common areas are non-smoking. Smoking in your room will result in a $500 fee.
